FAQ
Are you a Medical Doctor?
No. I am trained as a Doctor of Chiropractic with specialized postgraduate education from Functional Medicine University. I am a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner and I have a certification as a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. I do not practice medicine, philosophically or clinically. Therefore, I do not treat, cure or diagnosis any medical condition. The model of care that I recommend to patients is one of health and wellness. It emphasizes removing obstacles to improving your health and replacing what your body needs. This model of care is not meant to be a replacement or substitute for conventional medical care. In fact, many patients find it a useful adjunct to the care that they are already receiving from their medical doctor.
Dr. DeWalch prefers Functional Health vs Functional Medicine. The term “Health” embodies all that Dr. DeWalch has lived and learned since starting as a Functional Health patient at the age of 5. There is a different there is a different education and philosophy to those who practice Functional Medicine(capital “M”). It is not drastically different from western allopathic medicine in Dr. DeWalch’s opinion. Dr. DeWalch knows and absolutely loves, values, and respects those individuals and thanks God for them and their skills every day. Dr. DeWalch practices Functional Health to complement your care, improve you Health (capital “H”), and help you achieve the health God intended.

Patient Resources
Our Team Philosophy.
Our Treatment Philosophy.
Whether you are seeing Dr. DeWalch for Structural or Functional Health, Dr. DeWalch wants to see you follow a distinct and linear path that returns you back to your life and the things you love.
Typically Dr. DeWalch initially sees patients 2-6 times for Structural care. Functional care visits include initial consultation, review of laboratory findings, questions as needed, and a review once we are ready to progress to maintaining the health you have achieved.
These visits can vary based on complexity. The goal of both is to identify the root cause or causes, educate you, and resolve the root cause or causes.
Dr. DeWalch advocates for and has many patients who choose a variety of maintenance care options because they wish to prevent injury and improve health throughout life.

FAQ
Structural Health
New Patient Paperwork
Dr. DeWalch requires all new patient paperwork be completed at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Dr. DeWalch reviews your information prior to seeing you. This insures you and Dr. DeWalch can maximize your time focusing on your concerns. If the new patient paperwork is not complete 48 hours in advance we must reschedule your appointment.
How long is each appointment?
Your first visit is one hour and each follow up visit is scheduled for one hour. Appointments are billed per procedure not time, therefore visits times can be shorter or longer depending upon the amount of time needed.
How should I dress for my appointment?
There is no specific dress requirement. Most patients come dressed in comfortable athletic clothing since Structural Health appointments usually include stretching. We do have t-shirts and shorts here in the office if they are ever required (example Dr. DeWalch needs to examine the knee before doing Acupuncture but you are wearing pants that can’t roll up).
Do you accept insurance?
Due to the Health insurance model, we are unable to accept health insurance. We are extremely mindful of cost and should you have any questions pertaining to the cost of your care we are open and available for discussion.
How will I be billed?
We securely keep a credit card on file for you. After your visit you will receive an email detailing the charge for your visit with Dr. DeWalch. If you ever need to change or update your credit card please call our office and we would be happy to help.
Will I receive treatment on my first visit?
During your first visit Dr. DeWalch will perform an exam to determine if treatment is appropriate. Most of the time Dr. DeWalch is able to perform a treatment on the first visit. There are times when treatment is not appropriate. Dr. DeWalch will discuss this with you, explain why, and the necessary steps that will follow. The most common steps are x-ray and/or MRI imaging if treatment is deemed inappropriate at that time.

How can I schedule my first and follow up appointments?
Most of Dr. DeWalch’s patients schedule online, but you can schedule with Manuela by phone.
How often will I need to see Dr. DeWalch?
Dr. DeWalch customizes schedule frequency for each and every patient individually. A great many factors affect your visit frequency (condition, training for a race or event which you might need to be ready for, travel plans, etc…). Typically Dr. DeWalch sees new patients 3-5 times initially on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. After your initial concerns have been addressed and if you wish to continue with ProActive/Performance Care you and Dr. DeWalch can customize a visit frequency that fits your life and your goals.
Does Dr. DeWalch recommend preventative appointments?
Yes. This is the most common reason patients see Dr. DeWalch. It is Dr. DeWalch’s opinion that the modern demanding lives we live demand caring for every aspect of health and Structural Care is vital to overall health.
Do you do alignments/adjustments only?
Yes. Dr. DeWalch is trained as a Doctor of Chiropractic and does perform alignments/adjustments. Not everyone requires an adjustment, therefore some visit may only involve muscle and fascial work. Some patients prefer not to be adjusted. Dr. DeWalch will make recommendations but it is your body and your health. Dr. DeWalch is trained in several forms of adjusting including “light force/mechanical” adjusting which does not cause a “pop” or “crack”. Some patients prefer this form of adjusting, please talk to Dr. DeWalch if you would prefer this form of adjustment or have any questions in general.
